Known properly as Doyenné Du Comice, “top of the show”, this particular variety was first propagated near Angers, France in 1849. The flesh is smooth with sweet and full flavors. It is said to be the most flavorful of all pears. We paired these amazing pears with fragrant rosemary for an exquisite conserve.

Our Comice Pears come a wonderful 100 year old organic family farm in Westley, Ca.

Recipe ideas:

Breakfast - Enjoy this conserve with toast, scones, and on oatmeal.

Lunch - Try a Pear & Jarlsberg Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Cheese plates - We recommend serving this conserve with a strong blue cheeses such as Camembert, or Stilton because they will contrast nicely with the sweet and strong flavor of the Comice.

Dinner - This conserve is also an excellent served alongside pork chops or stuffed in a pork tenderloin with caramelized onions.
